The latest project by The Stables in Bundeena is an incredible transformation of a once modest seaside cottage into a ranch-inspired farmhouse layered with warmth, texture and character.
With a growing family at its centre and a love for rustic interiors, the clients drew inspiration from the popular TV series Yellowstone. The result is a home that feels both bold and welcoming — where country lodge aesthetics meet relaxed coastal living.
A Ranch-Style Vision Brought to Life
From the beginning, the design direction was clear: a ranch-style farmhouse that celebrates raw materials, strong textures and generous proportions.
What was once a compact cottage has been thoughtfully extended to the rear, creating expansive living zones that feel both open and inviting. Wide hallways introduce a sense of grandeur, while rich chocolate-toned timber flooring grounds the interior palette.
A standout moment in the home is the dramatic river stone fireplace, sourced overseas specifically for this project. For The Stables, it marked a first. The natural stone adds depth and authenticity, instantly evoking the rugged warmth of a country lodge.
Paired with a beautifully detailed shaker kitchen and layered timber elements, the interior balances rustic charm with timeless design.
A Kitchen Designed Around Connection
At the heart of the home sits the kitchen — a space designed not just for cooking, but for gathering, entertaining and everyday family life.
